After the I Do’s

MODULE 14

After you say ‘I Do’

Congratulations Newlyweds!

After the excitement of your wedding day, it’s completely normal to experience a whirlwind of emotions.

In this final module we will guide you through the first steps of post-wedding life, including how to navigate the wedding blues, and etiquette for sending thank you cards to your guests and wedding suppliers.

After you’ve Said ‘I Do’

Wedding Blues

Wedding Blues are real and completely normal. After such a huge build-up, it is surprisingly common to feel a dip in mood, a sense of sadness or even a little lost once your day is over.

Your feelings are valid and you are not being dramatic or ungrateful.

You are simply coming down from an emotional high!

There are a few simple ways in which you can help yourself through this phase.

First, talk to your partner. Be open about your feelings, saying how you feel outloud often lifts far more weight than carrying it alone.

Second, start to create new traditions together. give yourself some things to look forward to! It might be a dog walk at the beach with fish and chips once a month or a Sunday farmers market trip. Small rituals create structure, comfort and momentum.

Finally, priorities self care. Look after yourself properly and set new goals. Whether they are personal or shared as a couple. The wedding was one chapter in your story, your marriage and everything you are building is a much bigger chapter.

Thank you’s

I understand, after everything, it’s really the last thing you want to do is sit down and write thank you cards.

The thing is, they are important, not just for your guests who have gone out of their way to purchase you gifts but also for your wedding suppliers who have spent a lot of time ensuring everything is perfect for your day.

In reality, your wedding suppliers don’t need or expect a beautifully hand written card however you can make them feel appreciated and loved by leaving them a fabulous 5* review!

Reminiscing

After your wedding, it’s completely natural to replay moments in your mind and reflect on how everything unfolded.

You may find yourself focusing on certain details, and it is normal to feel that some things did not turn out exactly how you imagined.

it is important to acknowledge those feelings, while also remembering that there is nothing you can do to change those moments now.

However, if there is a particular aspect of the day that you are genuinely unhappy with, it is reasonable to contact the supplier or person responsible. While they cannot undo what has already happened, they maybe able to offer an explanation that you are unaware of.

In many cases, decisions are made quietly and with good intentions, often to avoid worrying or upsetting you on your wedding day.

These situations are rarely malicious and understanding the full context can sometimes bring reassurance or closure.
